Ash Wednesday is the start of the Lenten Season (the six weeks leading up to Easter.) We enter the lead up to Easter aware of our mortality with the imposition of ashes and the words, “remember you are dust and to dust you shall return." We will not live for ever on our own but through the cross we have eternal life and so aware of our mortality, we are also aware of our sin and how it holds us back from life as we await to celebrate our salvation on Easter Morning.
