Town Hall Meeting

This Sunday you are invited to a Town Hall Meeting in our Parish Hall. We'll discuss the projects that are under consideration for a possible capital campaign next year, and we want everyone to be there. That's because this process centers around a listening and discernment phase, when the entire congregation will voice their desires, hopes, and concerns. Then and only then--after everyone has been heard, every dream floated and every concern aired--will we decide what to do. Your voice will help steer where we decide to go.

This is actually the first of two congregational meetings to help everyone learn about the projects under consideration. The second will be on Thursday, November 3 at 7pm. Come to either one, or both. And please complete a written questionnaire, distributed in person on Sunday, and then my mail to everyone else. And make sure to sign up for a personal interview with our consultant, Jeff Knauer. Jeff will conduct 30 minute interviews on November 9 and 11 with every single person who signs up, to hear firsthand what they think about the proposals, and what they want to see us accomplish together in the coming years.

That's what excites me most about this process: anticipating what we will accomplish. We are inheritors of the generosity and dedication of parishioners from over 100 years ago. They built our beautiful church buiding, which has blessed countless worshippers, oh these many years. I am excited to think of the ways we will bless the next generation of our church: not only by preserving what we inherited, but also thinking critically and creatively of who we'll be and what we'll need in 10 or 20 or even 50 years. What we accomplish in this campaign will help this community better spread the kingdom of God from the corner of Central and Caswell streets.

With confidence in what we can do together, and joy in what God has already done in and for us, let's set the work we have been given. I'm thrilled to be a part of it with you.
