The Blessing Way

During the season of Lent we had the privilege of learning about the modern ciminal justice system from guests who work within that system every day.  They helped us examine the story of the Passion by sharing how the story affects the practice of their vocation.

One guest in particular captivated those present with her unique witness and courage.  Renee Calpin spoke about her struggle with addiction and time in prison, and her efforts to turn her life around on the other side.

Renee's story is an inspiring testament to the kind of life that is possible for former prisoners.  Thanks to the spiritual guidance of The Blessing Way, she got a job and is now in recovery, steadily putting her life back together.  And there are others like her, working hard to leave the darkness of their past behind, and with the bright light of Jesus shining on them, heading into a brighter future.

The Blessing Way is a faith-based agency providing spiritual and social support for those men and women returning to the Providence area from prison or drug treatment who have demonstrated a commitment to recovery, personal change and social responsibility.  To learn more, visit www.theblessingway.org.
